    Light weight diesel auto conversion

Gaz'Aile project use 8 valve Ford-PSA DV6C. With mecanical injection, it produce around 100HP for 107Kg with psru. In the GM LE2 thread someone mentioned a 1.6L biturbo 160HP from GM you can find in opel astra here in europe. He says it weights around 125kg. Toss the bi-turbo out for one big...

Looking for info on controlling airfoil shape in moldless composite wing

From what i understand: 1) you glass the top first 2) with only the top you can still conform the foam to the rib. Create a corner on the rib to support it. 3) then glass the bottom and glue it to the ribs corner. Got it right? I dont understand how you do it for the other side of the wing ;)

Flying wing as cheap and simple option for basic fun flying.

If you look at how a panel is made, a lot of the weight is the plastic backing of the panel, the actual sensitive stuff is very thin. I always wondered 2 things: if a panel can actually replace the fabric/skin of the wing, offsetting some the weight, or if somehow you could order that thin...

Electric Powered - High Performance Design

In a project like this, you need a structural battery idealy? I wonder what kind of strength you could get by using all those tiny tubes of aluminium as some kind of honeycomb structure, containing electrons :) You would need to master spot welding aluminium. I also imagine you should choose an...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Stop with the clickbait! title: "Samsung announce new battery...", first line: "Samsung presented a study..." Well, like I said before, now is the good time to develop an electric propulsion for your aircraft, by the time you will be done with current batteries (2-3 years...), the new ones will...

    Cheap ultralight wing coverings

Did you see the dyneema fabric I mentioned ? Can be as low as 0.5 oz/yd, ~30$/yd. Why it wouldn't work for an ultralight (I don't know if it shrink...) ? Looks tough.

    Exian's composite planes

Well, they are a camshaft manufacturer for european brands, and started their aero activities by making a special camshaft for aero VW engines, so it's at least believable that they make a bit more HP... the "continuous" is probably more debatable ;)
