Icon A5 Update - No Deliveries!?!

Maybe the engine didn't come forward, but the human was shoved backwards towards the engine. After all, the lower crumple zones on a human aren't necessarily fatal when crushed, and the upper crumple zone can't do much damage to an engine.

    Klixon circuit breakers as switches

Maybe I should just buy one and cycle it 2000 times with a load on it.

    Klixon circuit breakers as switches

I hope the size is wrong on that link, because it says it's 8x8x3 inches. I couldn't fit 3 of those on my panel. Even if that's supposed to be cm, that's still a bit too large for me to consider. For some reason, your post and TFFs first post did not show up on my computer until a few minutes...

    Klixon circuit breakers as switches

The documentation states the endurance as 2,500 cycles: 30 VDC inductive, 5,000 cycles: 30VDC resistive, 10,000 cycles: no load. I would assume that a cycle is off and on, but do not know for sure...

    Klixon circuit breakers as switches

I've read it. I disagree that inaccessible fuses are a good idea. You and he and others on here might be fine with them, but I am not. If the engine is still running but I'm in the pattern at a busy airport, while it is not an emergency, I'd rather have the option of trying to get the radio...

Crashes in the News - Thread

https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=FAA-2001-11089-1673 "Regarding engine 4, to prevent the magneto “P” leads from separating from the magnetos, someone had attempted to rig the magneto leads in place with safety wire. Inspection and testing of engine 4 left magneto revealed the movement of...

    Klixon circuit breakers as switches

Other than being larger, heavier, more complex than what I'm suggesting, and needing to carry spare fuses, having no good place to put the fusebox on my tiny panel where it is accessible in flight kills it. And I'm not really worried about the reliability of Klixons. It's not thread drift to...

    Klixon circuit breakers as switches

I'm looking at circuit breakers for the panel, the Klixon 2TC2 seems like they would work fine. I only need 5 circuit breakers. I noticed that they are good for 2500-5000 cycles, which is well over the number of times I would use a switch in 1000+ hours, is there any reason I couldn't use them...

    GA and shelter in place

If you're going solo, then it is fine. Shelter in place doesn't mean stay inside, just away from other people. You can still go for walks, drives, etc. If they specifically state "do not leave your house" then you couldn't. But it's fine under shelter in place.

    Boeing - Design Issues...

A major problem in US businesses is the organizational chart. Finance and HR are at or near the top, where they clearly do not belong. Finance should be under operations, engineering, etc. HR should be at the very bottom, below the janitors, they literally should work for everyone.

LSA Weight to be 3600 Pounds soon !!!

If you have a Private Pilot certificate, Basic Med allows you to fly with Private Pilot certificate privileges. It functions the same as a 3rd class medical exam. If you have a Private Pilot certificate, when your medical certificate expires, if you don't get a Basic Med exam, you can still fly...

    Boeing - Design Issues...

That's incorrect, corporate malfeasance is for actual crimes. There is absolutely zero reason they could not have kept the cash on hand - Apple has over $200 billion in cash, and has for the last 5 years. The reason they don't have cash now is because the idiotic system where the people hired to...

    Drying out fuel tank

It's a water filled 0-15 psi gauge, with markings every 0.2psi. I seriously doubt it's off by 13-20%. Dow 730 is sold by Aircraft Spruce, it's formulated for petroleum resistance, and "For assembling and/or repairing of fuel systems and tanks," according to the Tech Sheet from Dow. It's not...

    Drying out fuel tank

I have a 0-15psi gauge that fits the fuel vent hole, the water was used before I got the gauge and some of the fittings. The problem I'm having is that only one hole will bubble, I'll seal it, wait for the sealant to dry, then test again and a single, different hole will appear. Never have two...

    Drying out fuel tank

The manufacturer of the slosh compound started that this could happen if there's any water in the tank when you seal it, as long as it's dry, this shouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure when this was discovered or communicated in the instructions, maybe after the Vans SB? This is for the wing...

    Drying out fuel tank

Riveted aluminum tank with Chemseal B2 sealant, a short alcohol wash should be fine, but with the current street value of isopropyl alcohol, that might be an expensive flush.

    Drying out fuel tank

I've sealed and closed one of my leading edge fuel tanks, but I have a couple of pinholes I'm tired of chasing down, so I bought some slosh type sealant. The instructions state to make sure there is no water in the tank, but there are a few drops, I used water to check the back side sealing...

How far are we from the perfect electric "homebuilt" ?

Solar cells degrade, if by some miracle they didn't break, they would put out less than 0.01% of their original energy in 1000 years, the wiring and electronics would be shot well before 100 years, and nowhere close to 10 years of daily charge/discharge cycles out of any battery technology light...

    Health Wealth & Happiness

While contemplating the Covid-19 situation, I was thinking that if my company shut down for a few weeks it wouldn't be so bad, I'd have time to get a lot done on my plane. I'm sure many of us have thought this. But I just had the horrid thought, what if Aircraft Spruce and Wicks, etc. all shut...
