    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Said he was gonna need a wide load permit with escorts. If he (or Wasabi) can't fly it off of 8,000' of concrete in Valdosta, it's time to punt.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I was over there this morning looking for you and/or Peter. No joy on either of you. Valdosta is a long move, but should be a good test flying location. I wish him luck.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Anyone with much knowledge of flying, test flying, and this particular situation already understands. The YouTube mob? You’re not gonna convince them anyway and they are not Wasabi’s customers, so why bother?

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Question - is there a public source to find out who the DAR was for the Raptor? I know most of the locals and am wondering who did the inspection.

I'm not banned yet. Not trying to get blocked either. Heck, I may go over there this weekend and offer a hand. The dude looks whipped.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I'm struggling to figure out where this 8K' field is. There's nothing like that in Georgia that isn't military or Hartsfield. And Huntsville is one of those places that is nearby by air, but a more difficult "get" on the ground.

Komrade. Next time we leave extra pallet of wodka behind.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Looking at the dimensions posted online and the assembly videos, I think he'll have to remove the outer wings, and twist it along the roll axis to get it down the road. The canards measure just over 15' wide and the stub wings look slightly wider. The other option is to pull the outer wings...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Maybe he had a major sponsor or inexpensive labor from the Atlanta area. But picking Cherokee county was a poor choice. There are a half dozen much better choices within a hundred miles of Cherokee County: Rome, Winder, Piedmont/Center, West Georgia, Dalton, Gainsville. There's plenty of Aero...

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

Maybe it looked doable at first, but as they peeled away layers of the onion it got worse and worse.

Rome also has much friendlier over-runs than Cherokee County. You have grass-fence-trees. Not a steep drop-off directly into a forest.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

I’ve been saying that all along. Now what does Peter do? Disassemble it and move to Rome? Try and fly it himself? Yikes.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

It’ll be interesting to see if they get much accomplished today. It is IFR/MVFR in the area this morning and I don’t expect to see good VFR today.

Yeah, but you'd be in good company.

    Raptor Composite Aircraft

He doesn't have the prop clearance for much more AOA. His prop is too long, his gear is too short, or it is located too far forward. The first person to get slow on final and drop it in with a medium/high AOA is gonna wreck the prop and probably the rest of the drivetrain too.

I noticed the shadow thing too. And I can get more air going over a speed bump in the parking lot. He's crowing about doing something pointless and risky. Therefore dumb. It scares me more and more.

Get to the airport and launch early. Temps will be reasonable. Just like they do at Mojave to minimize the impact of heat/wind.

    Hatz Classic Plans now available

Jeff, Is there a master list of corrections available for older Hatz Classic plans?

    Fly for under 20k!

I ran into a buddy at the airport last weekend. He was selling a pretty decent looking Tomahawk he'd bought for his daughter. It had ADSB out installed and he was looking for ~$20K. That's a wonderful airplane for the money. You can even park it outside...

Flying Pancake aircraft for bush operations

    1) It wasn't developed into a successful prototype. The prototype was constructed, but never flown. 2) Ideas are great. But I struggle with fantastic claims around things that never happened. The V-173 got off the ground and flew. It apparently demonstrated good short field performance, but...
