Hi there,
I am in the flight testing stage of my plane and experience some trouble with the longitudinal trim range of my airplane. To get a CofA I need to comply with European certification rules CS-VLA (certification standards Very Light Aircraft) MTOW = 750 kg – 1653 lb. It states about trim:
(ii) The airplane must maintain longitudinal trim in a descent with idle power at a speed of 1.3 VSI with landing gear extended and wing flaps in the landing position.
In my case I still have a backpressure force of 6 lbf needed on the stick to maintain level flight.
What are my options? Some data: elevator area = 6 sq.ft, Trim tab = 1.12 sq.ft (electrical servo)
Is there any risk of loosing elevator effectiveness when I simply increase the trim tab area?
