Put this here because it is not directly aviation related.

I was pricing out some aluminum tubing on MetalsDepot.com for a nonaviation project. The cost of the aluminum was about $638. Not bad, really.

To get an idea of the shipping costs they want you to put everything in the shopping cart. When I did that there were the usual suspects and the shipping was $200-$300. Of course UPS and FedEx won't ship 12 foot lengths. But then there was one company named RFL that was only $70.48!

MetalsDepot says they are in Kentucky, and I am in North Central Ohio, so that certainly affects the shipping cost.

But my point is, shop around when buying freight items.
