Hi everyone, as someone new to the homebuilt aircraft hobby yet been in aviation a long time, I am curious as to what people have done for engines other than the rotax. I have done a lot of extensive searching on the web, which found for me this site :) , but really havent found much in the way of an alternative to the high priced, needs major overhaul every 300 hours Rotax.

I have seen some info on the VW being used and for the project that I am about to start, the affordaplane, this would produce the 40 to 50 horsepower I am wanting but I like looking at everyhting available before committing.

Does anyone have any suggestions to a powerplant that is preferably aircooled?
