I have a plane with a Blue Head Rotax 582 that has a 3/4 tank of gas. It's been sitting for just over 30 days. Rotax suggests that we drain gas that is over 30 days old and re-fuel with fresh gas. I assume that's because the octane drops and the risk of detonation increases. The engine has oil injection so the gas is not pre-mixed and it's premium 92 octane. I'd rather burn it then drain it obviously especially since it's only 4 days past the limit.

Could I just buy a bottle of octane booster and safely use that gas in the plane or is that not a common practice. In theory it makes sense to me but there's probably something I'm not considering hence my post.

Thanks guys!
