*Disclaimer* I have not flown a glider, but want to soon.

I am learning about gliders, and may build one someday. I was thinking about how much room is needed to tow a glider by car. You need the length for the rope, and for the car to drive.

Remember when the "Mythbusters" would run their crash tests - they would bolt a pulley to the ground, and the tow vehicle could drive in a path 90 degrees to the path of the crash vehicle.

How about using one or two pulleys to pull the glider in one direction, and the tow vehicle could drive in a path perpendicular to the glider, or opposite and parallel to the glider.

Could this make finding a field long enough to vehicle-launch a glider any easier? I know in some places, it's hard to find a suitable location.

Do you think this would work?

Safe Flying!
