I'm wondering if I can remove this older IVO prop without losing the pitch. I need to remove the gearbox to change a couple of o-rings and it'd be easier if the prop was off I think. That being said, I think it's totally possible to do the job with the prop on which is what I'll do if removing it means that I'd need to re-pitch it.

On a related note, I recently re-pitched the GSC prop on my other plane (talk about a a pain in the butt - and it's still not right!!) and for an engine run-up and static prop test, I just quickly lockwired the bolts. Can anyone tell me why this wouldn't work as a permanent lockwire job? My flight instructor who used to be an Air Force aviation mechanic said that this would be OK for ground runs but that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to fly with. I'm just curious as to the reasoning why. (he left before I got a chance to ask)

Thanks guys!
