I have been scouring the internet for suppliers of simple spur and helical gear wheels for possible use in reduction drives. There seem to be endless suppliers and manufacturerers, especially in India, who will make you anything, for a price and provided you buy about 1000 of them. Also, most of these gears are meant for industrial machinery operating at a few hundred rpm as opposed to a few thousand. I know I could scour junkyards and take apart transmissions, but I am doing a clean sheet approach and was wondering if anyone out there knows of a company that will sell off the shelf gear wheels (and not a thousand at a time either) that can be used for our kind of application? (No, I won't tell them it's for airplanes...)

If anyone has had good exprience with such a company, let me know.
