Hello All

I have plucked up the courage - hope I have some pride left in-tact when this is over!

I hope others will feel free to ask those nagging questions too!

As I understand it, the horizontal stabilizer provides neither lift nor downforce in level flight so it doesn't need to be an aerofoil. Why is it normally shaped like a tear drop in section? (Rounded front and narrowing toward the back)
Is this purely an aerodynamic form? Would a flat plate do the same job? (but with more drag)
