I've been looking around at some of the certified engines (not that I'll be purchasing a certified engine new OR old anytime soon) and I noticed the SMA SR305-230 firewall forward package.
Check it out at http://www.smaengines.com.
It's one hell of a deal! But, where is this leading you ask?
Notice that it runs on JetA/JetA1.
I used to run one of my cars on JetA1 back in the mid '80's because at the time I could get it for free. Apart from having to use a lubricant fuel additive, such as Morey's oil, the performance of the engine was good.
Has anyone else explored this avenue of alternative fuels?
I used to have an old Ferguson tractor that ran on either petrol or kerosene, it even had 2 fuel tanks just for that purpose, and it never once failed me either.
Seems with the high price of AVGAS and ULP these days it's a pretty attractive option.
