What is the general consensus with regards to using large scale flying models (R/C) for testing of a small a/c design? For conversational purposes, I'm looking at a 1/2 scale model being only 12 ft span, which is well within the realm of reality for me.

What things could be applied, what couldn't? Would handling qualities be even remotely similar? These are all questions which I have pondered for some time, but would love to hear everyone else's opinion before I pollute the pool with mine.
