It should be possible for a STOL airplane to land in a confined area, if the landing slope is shaped similar to a ski jump (32° slope down).
If the STOL airplane could approach the touchdown with a 32°-40° glide angle, the landing contact would be gentle with no major glide path timing skill required, I think. (Landing like a ski jumper at the critical point)
Such a STOL port could be installed between buildings inside a city limits, with arresting and launch cables like an aircraft carrier.
