Hi everyone!

I m starting to work seriously with fiberglass and a hotwire cutting foam is a must tool.
There´s plenty of people on youtube using them, what I can´t find through the net for sure is: wich is the electrical power required to cut the foam?

Most Folks seem to do it with a current car battery. I think I could do the job more comfortably with a power supply unit for a PC. The maximum output I can take from the PSU is about 80 Watts (4 amps and 20 Volts maximum).

Would that be OK? I don t wanna burn the PSU, although they seem to have some internal protection, but I prefer not to take risks.

The PSU I have alloys you to choose the Voltage output, I guess the amperage is regulated by itself from inside. Anyway do you recommend me to buy a potentiometer so that I can regulate the current flow from it instead of varying the voltage from the PSU?

Thank you very much for your help, this forum is really a gold mine!
