I'm not an engineer, so I'm hoping someone can help me out. I need slightly longer axles (spindles). I have access to some 6061 T653 and I'm wondering if this material would be strong enough in such an application. The axle would be roughly 6 inches long and 3/4 or 5/8 inches in diameter. The gross weight of the plane is only 500 pounds. If machined from a block of 6061 T653 would this work?
