I was talking to the people at the Delta Hawk booth at Oshkosh, having more than a slight interest in Diesel aero engines. The last time I looked at projected prices on their website, I seem to remember the cost being about $29,000 and change and they claimed this to compare favorably with the cost of a similar-power Lycoming. Fair enough.

Then I overheard a rep answering the most commonly question asked at Oshkosh "How much?" The answer : $62,000 firewall forward.

I thought I misheard, but I heard the same answer the next day.

My humble opinion - this is nuts. I don't care how they justify it, it's nuts.

If I set out to produce a product that is supposed to compete with a similar product and my product ends up costing TWICE as much - I'd throw up my hands and start again. Or go work for McDonalds or something.
