How would you win the Sport Racing class/why am I wrong?

Acknowleding Mr Jeff Ackland's ingenuity, I took some liberties with his airplane.

Certainly would be a great spoolup for the annual pylon races. Always great to hear from you, Jeff. Whatcha been doing?

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

Of course. My point was in developing fututre competitors, will round engines be as competitive as inline engines. There was no slight intended toward Czech Mate.

My bad. When you said Existing Airframe I couldn't think of anything in composite that big. I'm pumped about this project!

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

Yep, but in 2016 Steve Hinton had to throttle back in Voodoo to keep the race close with Czech Mate.

    Yep!

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

Hmmm... the new Legend owners are re-doing the piston legend with a supercharged LSA. Am I getting warm? But again, this thing won't be 4500 lbs. Or will it?

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

I've mentally debated this numerous times. The R-2800 is one of the best engines every made and can be pushed quite hard. But the in-lines just have such better aerodynamics.

Man, Ross, I wish you could talk about this more... I'm so curious. Trying to imagine how something you describe can meet the 4,000 lb minimum with modern power.

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

I dunno, you might be right. I know I wouldn't travel to Reno for a 100 hp race class, but I would for a half dozen little planes going 450 mph. Now... with a smaller, slower class of racing it would be easier to find multiple venues and bring the races closer to folks like me, and I'd easily go...

None of the fastest sport class competitors are using it, and Kevin went to a 6 cylinder.

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

In racing... any kind... people want speed and noise. It's currently the only redeeming value in Unlimiteds.

Cancelled by Red Bull. Don't know why.

    Unlimited Air Racing Dead?

And there's the conundrum... a venue close to a populace but with enough geography to satisfy the FAA and insurance companies for 500 MPH racing is a tough solution.
