Thank you for this thread , I just discovered D-motor. I heard about them before but never looked up their website.
The extra power really makes it attractive ! They don't talk about the TBO though. Can we expect a shorter time before overhaul ?
Off topic question :
I've always been told that...
Thank you for the link.
I understand what you say. I never said the airplane was any good or had good performance. In my eyes this airplane is a mess and I don't expect the project to lead anywhere. There is no comparison possible between a Velocity and the Raptor. (If I had to...
Yes but I find it encouraging to see the plane "take off". The creator and his decisions aside, it's positive to see the airplane actually fly (instead of driving around).
I too have concerns about the claims but that would be the result of Peter's actions.
What's really scary right now, is...
From the research I've done so far and with the help of people from this forum, I think that's not how canards work.
It's not about deflection but instead about lift generated by the canard. If you exceed max AoA, the canard will stall and the nose will drop not matter the...
The Rafale has a fully moving canard/control canard I believe if that's what you mean.
Isn't there two types of canards : lifting canard and control canard ? I think wrong terminology is being used here
Does Peter use full power on every high speed taxi ? Seeing all those comments on the redrive that say that it won"t hold, I'm surprised there hasn't been more issues with it. I feel like problems would have appeared by now if he used full throttle every time.
Does anyone know ?
And after watching the latest video, it appears he will also be taking care of the flight testing himself !
All those ground tests seem pretty pointless to me. Hardly any interesting data comes out of these tests and I feel like Peter doesn't know what he is looking for.
Peter responded to jet guy's comment on youtube with this :
(I personnaly don't know much about turbos so I won't be adding anything to the conversation).
il y a 29 minutes
I took the advice of several different outfits on how to configure the compound turbos. Perhaps no one...
As a French machinist, this is a very common way to describe thickness in millimetres here in France. Rather than writing 2.5mm or 0.1mm, etc we use fractions.
I mostly see it used with sheet metal work but it is sometimes used in machining to describe depth of cut.
Are you referring to Justin and Elliot ?
Have you ever checked what Elliot did in his life ? I'd much rather do what he does (and what he did) rather than go to a Test Pilot School...
I hardly believe that they qualify as Wanna bes considering they do what they want and don' t speculate about...
Do they even care though ? All those people bashing them in the comments have no idea what they are talking about and I'd bet that most of them don't even fly. What kind of influence do they have ?
But as you said, in the end it seems like a whole lot of risks for not much reward, if any...
