Hello everyone, I'm new here !

Welcome Tim, Before you commit to redesigning the Affordaplane, please take a look at all your other options first. There are many. You will save yourself much time and effort building from a proven set of plans. The Legal Eagle or Hummel Ultracruiser are two good options. I personally...

Today we finished welding the two aft landing gear, wing strut attach fittings. This was some difficult welding taking all day to complete. I dropped and damaged my #2 welding tip a few weeks ago. Yesterday I bought a new #2 tip at Harbor Freight for ten dollars. It fit my standard Victor...

Glad to see you making progress Mr. Wainfan. I really enjoyed your forum at Oshkosh a few years back. I built a Thing 3 you designed a few years ago. I converted it to electric power and added landing gear, canopy and elevons. Too scared to fly it at the moment. Keep up the great work.

Crashes in the News - Thread

Thanks guys, I feel bad for the builder JD. JD is the last remaining member of the four or five man build team. Almost twenty years build time to see fatal crash on second or third test flight.

I was wrong with my Monday morning speculation. Jim took off to the north and lost power during a right turn out. Wings rocked and he regained control with nose down attitude, he didn’t have enough altitude to recover.

Thanks guys, Yes, Jim usually wore a yellow chapter 280 t shirt. I suspect that since he was downwind for the active he tried to turn base.

Crashes in the News - Thread

Hello group. I'm asking for prayers for our EAA chapter 280 president Jim Ireland. Jim died a few hours ago test flying a recently completed Falconar P51 replica. The airplane was powered by a Chevy LS V8 and apparently lost power and spun in with full fuel. All I know is they had issues last...

Today we welded the last two doublers onto the left shock strut attach fitting, and did some finish welding on both landing gear struts. Jim notched the new carbon fiber seat to fit into the seat back gussets. We tried out the new seat, it's great. At the end of the day we had to put the mock...
