    Making a firewall

Now you tell me :) Putting some .016 aluminum on the back of the firewall would have been a good idea for the JMR . Wished I had thought of that. Will not forget now. Picture of behind the firewall.

    Making a firewall

Homemake fluteing plers made from cheap vice grips. I like using vice grips because you can set the depth of the stroke and do identical flutes.

    Making a firewall

Forming the flange from the SS is very, very hard to do a good job. SS flat firewall and formed flange like the Pitts is the way to go. Picture of the firewall of the SSSC and the Bearhawk. On the Bearhawk I didn't use SS. I hate working with it , even drilling. I went the easy way.

What type of flying machines is this ?

The other day I watched an Airforce C-5 land at KPKB and about 20 minutes latter took off and headed north. Small airport/ small town. There is a Helo National Guard unit at the airport. They have been flying far less than normal the last couple weeks. Have no idea ???

What did you do on your airplane project today?

We don't have a local reservation but its just the same. Payday rush at the first of the month and all the crazies are out at Wal-Mart. Good time to say home and work on the airplane. Never know what you will see.

What did you do on your airplane project today?

I got the Stromberg carb for the C-85 on the JMR from a trade with a friend in IA. He had it as a spare carb for the Cont engine on his Fly-Baby. Took it off the engine today to check the float level. Float level right on, but parts inside were not safety wired.

Solid Rivet shop head size criteria

You are correct. Easy to mess up when doing it by yourself. That is why my daughter always helps me rivet. She runs the gun and I used the bar. We will get in a rhythm and work a long time and never say a word.

    Still breathing!

Sounds familiar. We had Christmas dinner with our Children, GrandChildren. My oldest Granddaughter (nurse) was here with his husband. He told me he had just left his younger brother that came home on leave from the Army and got the flue and was sick in bed. About 2 weeks latter everyone...

Some of the snow birds came back to our airport yesterday and found the electric off. Bet they were not happy.

If you don't prepare for the emergencies , do you expect someone else the take care of you and spend their time, effort and money on you instead of themselfs and their families? If you don't do all you can do to take care for yourself, you are to blame. Your best is required. Growing up where...

    Horizontal tail construction

Let me guess which one is the fastest. I always liked a red airplane , but I will guess the yellow airplane. Cessna made the same mistake when they went to the back window in the C-150, 172, 182. The swept tail gave pitch change with the rudder. Then they widened the fuselage. Then went...

    Turtle deck grain direction

Highly load places I would do the 2X 1/8" ply for the 1/4". But in the turtle deck , I would go with "B".
