    Lippisch DM-1 airworthy faithful replica...

There's something very similar built by Roland Payen in the 50s, it's the Pa.49 using a 300lb thrust jet. A good replacement for that jet would be the PBS TJ100 or TJ150 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payen_Pa_49 test flight How about a more modern design like the Payen Arbalète, Pa60 or Pa61...

Diesel Engines and Long Range Homebuilts

Found out that someone in australia is trying to make a low power ~ 200+hp turbo prop with recuperator to improve PSFC. TurbAero let's see how that turns out

I concour with your numbers give or take depending on wing loading. But that's also kind of a narrow range between 16lb/sqft to 19lbs/sqft if we want to have something that can have a good fast cruise of well over 200kts. Can't have Va or Vno too low. I think there's a market for a jet that's...

Those numbers sound sweet. Did you ever try to find out if pratt&whitney will sell you the PW610f, it’s got 900lb thrust and is a turbofan, very decent TSFC too compared to turbojets. Wonder what costs is like and overhaul cost. I heard those pw610f have TBO of 4000+hrs with IRAN in between...

    Experimental Ducted Fan Aircraft Designs

Well actually a used military trainer jet is probably around $100 to 200k. What’s going to be shocking is the maintenance cost and finding mechanics with the knowledge and expertise. Plus those planes drink fuel like no tomorrow. An airfield near to me has 2 privately owned L39s. Hence a...

    Experimental Ducted Fan Aircraft Designs

By the way what’s your opinion about the turboshaft proposal by the UL 39 Albi team. It has the PBS TP100 driving a fan and maybe putting out some residual jet thrust from exhaust. If I remember correctly from the article about the TP100 equipped RV10, the exhaust provided some thrust too. TSFC...

    Experimental Ducted Fan Aircraft Designs

Oh that’s a real shame.. it was pretty much the only high bypass turbofan in this size. PBS is after all a turbojet so unless they redesign it into a turbofan, thrust isn’t going to go up and tsfc numbers are not going to go down much.

Any idea what happened to the Price Induction DGEN 380/390. I thought that would have been a better option with 600 to 900lb thrust Class and a TSFC of 0.7 ish.... Never heard any further news since 2018

    Experimental Ducted Fan Aircraft Designs

I am waiting to see what kind of numbers the subsonex guys get with the new 2seat Jet they are developing. It will be a good data/reference point for a twin jet powered UL39 ALBI.

Yeah, I’ve been following it too. The picture they have there is for a Turbohřídelový motor Turbo shaft ie like a turboprop engine. Maybe they might get better TSFC numbers. I’ve wondered why not just use 2 pbs TJ100 and shove in a 100+ gallon fuel tank for a two seater and allow upto 160...

Hi Malish, do you know what happened to the replica p38 project of team38? How far did it get? not everyday that one encounters a replica p38 nick

    New single seat experimental

Found out the reason for using the ballistic chute. The plane lost power and there was a sudden change in aircraft attitude, and because of the design of the horizontal tail plane the plane became uncontrollable and pilot bailed out and pulled the ballistic cord separately. It's described in...

    Scale ME-262

Slightly different design... How about the Caprioni F5 Trento. According to test pilots it was wonderful to fly. Wooden structure and designed by Stelio Fratti( responsible for SF260 and the F8 falco). Needs an engine equivalent to the new PBS TJ150. I guess if Prof. Fratti was still alive...

Yes that would be an interesting candidate. Doesn’t have landing gears though
