Hi. Get the spreadsheet? I hope my customisation of it hasn't ruined it for anyone else...

I've checked and rechecked - and it seems that I just can't get the numbers right for an engine under 30hp. So while I hate to write this - I'm going to have to pass on your offer of the industrial engine. What a terrible pity.

You have set me to thinking seriously about using one of these engines, however. I would need the 35hp version, but even new they are a whole lot cheaper than anything else. So I am hard at work, checking the design and making sure it can accommodate the lighter engine.

      Thanks for the heads-up.

      Hey,
While I'm at it - I know you're working your way through the texts at the moment - you might get some value from my extensive reworking of the basic spreadsheet Daniel Raymer includes with his books. Put in the numbers, and it all pretty much works it out for you. I'll send that also when I get home.

I've got my Spreadsheet with me - not complete, but nearly so. If you'll excuse the way I've laid it out - basically a list of tasks which need to be completed, along with the parts required to make it so. Seemed like a pretty simple way to organise things. Gives you a pretty good idea of what work is involved also. Quite a fun exercise. If you give me an email address, I'll email it.

      Cheers,
      Duncan
PS I've got to say - that B&S motor sure sounds tempting... I'll have to go home tonight and run the numbers.
