    High Oil Temp Anomaly

I have a cooler and remote filter on order from Scott. When it comes in I will install cooler and filter; check & clean sump screen; change oil; then fly again. Got 4 hours on engine (and UltraCub) now. Thanks for the info. Dee

    High Oil Temp Anomaly

Thanks for the information and suggestions. Scott Casler has also suggested that I may need an external cooler and that there's no need for a special oil.. I have a cooler on order and plan to install it and changes the oil to a zddp oil. Then I'll see if this improves the situation. Thanks again.

    High Oil Temp Anomaly

Currently I have 4 hours on my new 1/2 VW 45hp Hummel engine. With the first 1.5 hours flight time during much climbing (touch-N-Go's) and some rpm’s around 3000, I got no indication of high oil temp (temp was in normal range of 210-220F). Today’s flight of 1.5 hours with virtually the same...

    Tuning a Zenith 14992 Carb on a 1/2 VW

Fuel tank is vented. Carb psi is 3 pounds with electric pump and 0 PSI with mechanical pump. I found that the mechanical pump is broken and will replace it. Hopefully this will resolve my problem. Thanks for your help.

    Tuning a Zenith 14992 Carb on a 1/2 VW

Update on tuning my Zenith 14992 carburetor. Today I ran the Hummel 1/2 VW utilizing only the engine mounted mechanical fuel pump. The engine ran for 30 or 40 seconds then it killed. I turned on the auxiliary fuel pump and then the engine ran with no problem. I disassembled the mechanical pump...

    Tuning a Zenith 14992 Carb on a 1/2 VW

Thanks to everyone for your advice and information. My Hummel engine, carb, etc. is new from Scott Casler and was pre-run at Hummel; i.e. engine and carb in new condition (first run). I assume that Scott would have sent me the correct carb for the engine and it would be set up correctly...

    Tuning a Zenith 14992 Carb on a 1/2 VW

I have a Hummel 45 hp 1/2 VW engine with a Zenith 14992 carburetor. I attempted to adjust the carburetor per the Hummel manual to no avail. The engine stutters with the advance of the throttle. Also, and most concerning, the engine kills when running at 2300 RPM or full throttle. Per Scott...

    Tach Adapter / Interface

Thanks for your relpies . . . Re: Westach, I already have 2 tach and would like to get one of these to work. Re: MGL/UMA mag pickup, the UMA tech said he's not sure if it would work on a 2 cylinder engine and give the correct reading. He said I would possibly have to return the pickup to get...

    Tach Adapter / Interface

Greetings all, I have a Casler 1/2 VW engine, dual ignition, utilizing a Dynatek CDI along with a Slick mag. I'm having trouble finding a tachometer to work with this set up. Per Casler, I am wired correctly to the CDI per the attached diagram in pink. I've tried a Swift brand tach as well as...
