    dual mechanical brake lever?

Thanks for the comments. It doesn't seem like I've missed any obvious off-the-shelf item, so I'll plan to do a custom dual lever when I get around to it. Thanks, Rusty

    dual mechanical brake lever?

Thanks for the links. This is exactly the one I was thinking of, and now I know why. I've watched a few of Ben's videos, and emailed with him a few times about Kolb stuff. I'll drop him an email about the handles. I fully expect to make some of this myself, and I have all the tools needed...

    dual mechanical brake lever?

Definitely an option for the Onex, though I'd prefer to leave it on the stick. The Airbike pedals are on the outside, eliminating most normal options. Rusty

    dual mechanical brake lever?

Thanks for the thoughts. I've seen some dual hydraulic units, but I don't see any reason to upgrade to hydraulic brakes on the Airbike. The Onex I'm working on also came to me with mechanical brakes, so if I come up with a good solution, I may use it there as well. I've got a couple ideas of...

    dual mechanical brake lever?

Definitely outside the box thinking, and I'm not opposed to that sort of thing. I think this will be much simpler. The plane has a full swivel tailwheel, and I'm fully content with a single handle nearly all the time, but there could be cases where I need a differential braking. It's an...

    dual mechanical brake lever?

Greetings, Has anyone seen a dual brake lever for mechanical brakes, that would be stick mounted. The idea would be that the handles would be close enough together to use as one handle normally, but could be activated separately if differential braking was needed. I can probably cobble...

    *^#%@ 'ing Wood Bees !!!!

Do a search for DIY Carpenter Bee traps, and you'll find some easy to make traps. I did the 4x4 version similar to what this guy shows- This is the first year I've used them, and they work surprisingly well. In previous years, I've had to go out nearly every day with poison and corks to...

    4A-084 teledyne engines for sale

They're very interesting engines for sure, and it's probably a good thing you're a million miles from me, because my hangar has been collecting too many interesting projects. It would be cool to see just how low the weight could be using electronic ignition and fuel injection.

If you wanted to overhaul one of these, where do you get parts?

    JSP so404 torch?

My plan is to use lightweight hoses on the Smith AW1A. If I'm not mistaken, the exact same hoses TM sells will work, and Smith sells their own Kevlar version as well. Cold weather saps my enthusiasm for most of these projects, so I probably won't buy one until it warms up and I get some other...

    JSP so404 torch?

Thanks Ron. I've pretty much decided on the AW1A, but I'll probably get a new one when I get closer to needing it. Rusty

    wing comparison- MiniMax and Kolb

Thanks for the great info! I really have to believe that most of these light aircraft started with some form of TLAR design, maybe changing it a bit here or there. Once they found something that worked pretty well, they just stuck with it. Next, other companies borrowed it. The end result is...

    wing comparison- MiniMax and Kolb

I'm actually starting to believe that anything that's more round on top than bottom would probably work :-) Rusty

    wing comparison- MiniMax and Kolb

Good point about the use of the same airfoil on such different planes. I guess I never would have imagined that. The MiniMax wing is said to be just drawn by hand, and not really based on any existing airfoil. The only thing I can find on the Kolb is a statement saying the FireFly uses NACA...

    wing comparison- MiniMax and Kolb

I have about 100 hours on Kolb Slingshots, and have never noticed any heavy stick force compared. Those wings are shorter and stiffer than the typical Kolb though. The sharp stall is real, but I've flown RVs that behaved the same. I don't believe the MiniMax wings have any twist either, and...
