Mohan, I do not know the X-Air design well enough to advise you on it's suitability for your purposes. From your posts it would seem you wish to take the aircraft up to it's limits and that is not a good place to be. It is not an aerobatic aircraft and is limited to basic flight manoeuvres as are most ultralights/microlights. If you do not mind can you tell me what your flight history is and what you want to do with the aircraft? All aircraft are subject to wear and tear and the harder you treat them the quicker they will wear out. If there is an agent of the company nearby get him to demonstrate the aircraft and see if it fits your requirements. Compare it with other aircraft if available to you and see which suits you best and at what price. Check with other owners in the area to see how the aircraft copes with local conditions to ensure engine power is adequate for the airfield height that you will operate from. Tony

No, I don't know anything about that plane, until I searched google for images I'd never even seen one. Ask the owner of that plane how many hours it has flown and try to find out the type's safety record. As an engineer at a major aircraft manufacturer you should have easy access to crash reports. I did a brief search and the worst I found was a mention on the X-Air yahoo mailing list that the strut vibrates when the engine RPM is between 5600 and 5800. I also ran across this post discussing bolts: Yahoo! Groups

I'm not an engineer so can't help with structural detail analysis. I've seen some frighteningly flimsy looking parts on American ultralights with good safety records though. Maybe the fitting you looked at wasn't carrying the whole load. Good night, I'll check in tomorrow.
