Tri Pacers

In the early 1970's I built a 24'X24' shop in my back yard in Crete Ne. My shop rate was$5/hour recovering small fabric airplanes. Some times I would be working on as many as 3 at a time. The TriPacers I would take the wings off at the airport and tow them home. Rip off the fabric on the out side put the cowling ,prop and doors in the cabin mask off the doors and cover a TriPacer in about 100hours. Some times the owner would get there airplane back in two weeks. Well then I became aware that the structure under the floor and the electrical wiring needed more attention and it is really necessary to take the hole thing apart and sand blast and prime the steel frame. Well that slowed the program down now it usually takes more like 500 hours.
hours to give the airplane what it really needs.
I like TriPacers because they are usually cheep to buy and you really get a lot for the money. A Tripacer is a lot better airplane than a old172. And a Colt is a lot better airplane than a 150 or 152. They just are not very good looking but you even get used to that after a while.
I lost track but I think over the years I have recovered 25to 30 TriPacers. Once my wife was going through my old papers and decided I have worked on 67 airplanes all together.
