Yes, I know I have stated that I do not like the newer cars that have a numeric read-out speedometer, but...

The 4D System graphics displays are not sunlight readable.

I could go with my original idea (in the other DIY Gauges thread) of using air-core motors to build analog gauges.

But today I thought of an alternative. Use some 7 segment high-brightness LED displays for the altimeter, tach, and airspeed. Fuel, oil temp, and oil pressure could be LED bar graphs.

It would take some getting used to---having a "digital" readout instead of analog, but it would certainly be quite inexpensive, at least for the display part!
