Obviously the wood has not changed.
Has wood glue improved?
People have been building bridges for ages. I can understand metal planes getting better, but I don't understand why we can build fast, light weight wooden home builts that take 5+ G's with a thin cantalever wing, yet the cantalever wooden wings of 1930 or so did not do nearly as well.
What are some of the major improvements in wooden mono plane wing design?
I don't understand why early engineers did not make it work in thin airfoiled fully cantilevered mono wings.
