Modifying Rib Caps

The following sketch shows a cross section of a Knight Twister rib showing top and bottom rib cap and top and bottom wing skin. Also shown is an alternate method of construction. The rib caps are split on the diagonal and placed on both sides of the rib instead of on just the outboard side. Weight stays the same but gluing surface to each rib and wing skin is doubled.

Are there any downsides structurally to this modification?
