I have a general question on wood construction.
If I were to take a certain length of spruce board. Let us assume the cross section is 1/2 inch by 1 inch. Now if I were to cut it with a band saw into 2 equal pieces along its length, so that I get 2 lengths, each with a cross section of 1/4 inch by 1 inch. I am assuming I make a very thin cut, losing minimal wood.

Now I glue these two lengths back into the original size with T-88. Will the resulting glued board of cross section 1/2 by 1 inch be stronger or weaker or same strength as original un-split board of cross section 1/2 inch by 1 inch.

I assume the weight may go up a trifle due to the addition of glue, but other than that, how would the strengths compare ?

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
