I was trying to figure out how much the major airframe components should weigh in a wood & fabric built to Pt 103, for mating with a Kawasaki 330 engine ?
I am looking for the weight for these major components.
Fuselage incl tail wheel & engine mount
Undercarriage or main gear
4 wing struts
Tail unit ( all 4 components incl tail brace tubes if any )
Main planes Before and after covering.
I am building a generic high wing design, more like a project, May or may not take to the skies.
I have seen a nice breakdown of weight for a Legal Eagle fitted with a 1/2 VW engine. But that may not help me as the type of construction is totally different. Some numbers for the LE are:
I am guessing that to make 254 lbs with engine, I need to get airframe down to about 160 lbs. assuming engine, re-drive if any, exhaust, plus prop runs about 94 lbs.
The immediate issue I have is that my tail feathers are weighing 10 lbs before covering. I think this may prove to be too much weight.
Thanks for any help.

Wheels & tires 5 - 7.3 lb ( depending on type tire / brake etc )
Struts 2.4 lb ( 4.1 lb for streamlined )
Fuselage 34.5 lb ( incl tail feathers, excl wing struts )
Wings 28.1 lb each side ( incl aileron and after covering )
5 Gal tank 3.5 lb
