Ok I have spent 2 years doing my research and have come to the conclusion that with my limited budget and poor welding skills that a Volksplane is my only choice/chance to fly again. I have several worries though I am a very large man but my weight with fuel will be inside the VP-2's advertised envelope. But I am a big guy size wise also and am hoping to pick up extra room and some extra usable weight by using either an old Arrow 2 stroke at 65hp or a Rotax which saves me over 100lbs on the VW and gives me extra room by having to move this engine forward to have a good CG. I know I lose on fuel consumption by using a 2 stroke and lose TBO time. But all I want to do is fly on the best of days around my Ozark hills hollows and farms. I can't tell you how much comparison time and research I have put into this. I just want to fly( I think the word safely should fit in here somewhere) --- Does anyone have some suggestions, I have plans yet is there any step by step instructions? Is there a better cheaper powerplant? I have joined my Local EAA chapter but to be honest even with the huge amount of expertise they have, they also have a fair amount of snobbery.
