Ripping.....
What is the best homeowner grade power tool and blade for ripping softwoods. What do you guys prefer to use, Table Saw or Band Saw and why? Once you've ripped your boards what are your feelings about planing? I use a thickness sander to get my boards to the perfect thickness but I read somewhere that epoxy doesn't bond as well to sanded surfaces.
I am able to find some good lumber locally and with labor rip them to something useful but it's laborious and makes a lot of dust. I picked up a dust collector system but I need to get hoses for it. Currently I use an old Craftsman tablesaw for ripping. It labors sometimes...
