I received this book as a gift from my wife a few years ago, she thought I might like it to go along with my guitar building library, and she was right. She did her research on this one for sure. I have pretty much everything I could buy on aircraft construction and especially wood aircraft construction since that is my real interest. I work with wood every day but I'm always learning. I have been looking into the possibility of alternative woods in aircraft construction since spruce seems to have become so overpriced (unnecessarily) and seems to be more of a tradition than much else... (yes I know all the differences) it's like the classical guitar world where people have been brainwashed into thinking a classical guitar MUST be rosewood back and sides... spruce or cedar top... Spanish heel... etc. and rubbish. Add this very amazing book on wood to your collection, I found it very helpful... BTW Douglas fir is looking better every day...
