I bought a fuselage for my Baby Great Lakes project (apparently, I'm the fifth owner). I've come to regret it, but I'm going to press on.

The current problem I'm trying to address is that the rear spar carry through is 1", but is supposed to be 7/8" (the wings won't fit on it, as the rear spar in these wings is 7/8" thick). It would take a lot of work to replace it, so what I would like to do is cut off the ends and put a length (maybe 6") of 7/8" inside the existing carry through, weld around where the new tube sticks out, and add some rosettes toward the inside. There's a bushing going through the center of the existing carry through for the stick torque tube, so I'd rather not mess with that. Otherwise, I'd put a new tube all the way through.

Is there any problem with this plan?

Thanks,
Jay
