Baby Great Lakes Aileron Bearings

It looks like there are three bearings in the Baby Great Lakes' aileron "system": a brass bushing rotating inside an aluminum bracket on the outboard end of the aileron, a bronze bushing around which the 4130 torque tube rotates at the fuselage, and a "shell bearing" on the inboard end of the aileron. The torque tube goes inside of the shell bearing and the shell bearing goes inside the inboard aluminum bracket. Can anyone shed any light on what this shell bearing is and how it's held in place and works?
