At the risk of asking a stupid question or being accused of being cheap...

What, if any, is the difference between aircraft rib lacing cord and the waxed "whipping twine" sold at marine stores? Both polyester, same diameter. Seems silly to buy 500 yards of lacing cord and wait for it to arrive to repair a few stitches if the marine product will serve. Though the whipping twine might have too much wax... I don't know as I've never worked with lacing cord; never done rib lacing before. I have used the whipping twine to make repairs in ultralight sails before, though.
