I have been looking for info on this in the forums, but have yet to find it. I am just wondering if a gusset joint as I have drawn has any merit, or is not worth the trouble, compared to the fish mouth joint. I am not an engineer, nor have I ever built an aircraft, but I would like to, and am working on a design. I liken each joint in the frame to a link in a chain, and although the typical fish mouth joint obviously works fine, it just makes me slightly uneasy.
I have attached a PAD(pencil aided drawing):) for your perusal.

Thanks in advance!
