how to test common aluminium tube strength

Hello all,
Newbie here.
I plan to build mike sandlind's bloop2 and curious whether we could use common
aluminium tube for ultralight plane.
The alum.tube seem strong, but how could we test it for its strength? I try to bend the 1inch tube and it require a lot of effort.
Any suggestion is appreciated.
