Please forgive a few naive questions and ignoring any certification aspects.

Assuming a metal framed, fabric covered flying surface, horiz stab for example, with in a single piece fabric "wrap", (trailing edge to leading edge and back to trailing edge) using a standard fabric to fabric joint at the trailing, or leading edge if reversed (no rib stitch etc).
Does the metal to fabric adhesive joint of the first "underneath layer" contribute significantly to the total joint strength, or is it simply used to hold the fabric in position and thus it is the fabric overlap joint which provides the greatest percentage of the joint strength?
How much does the edge tape contribute to the total strength?
