G'day all,
Just getting started with TIG so dont know alot. I am having a few issues welding 4130. My welder is just a simple scratch Tig. I have a simple joint of 2 pieces of tube (1"X .049") in a T. The arc at times seems to jump away from where I want it. Say I may be welding away and moving the torch along but the arn will sometimes jump away from the joint. Also at times I am having a hard time actually welding the 2 pieces together, in that I can get the puddle going nicely on one piece and feed in the filler but it wont actually join the 2 together, I end up with a blob of weld near the joint. Could this just be a cleaning issue? I have read something about a Gas lense? could this be it? any thought or ideas would be appreciated,

Daniel
