So my EAA group has a little project that we are working on which is a team airbike. It is just the frame and uncovered wings at the moment.

Since this will be my first experience outside of the military I will be starting with covering the wings.

So first question and first step is about treating the wood,
Is there an aviation grade shelac that needs to be used to protect the wood before I start the covering process?
If so what is it?
If not what did you use to protect your wood before skinning it.

Thanks for any help you can provide I really appreciate you guys lending your invaluable expertise to a newbie.
