I have an older experimental plane that has LARGE n numbers (painted in black) on the wings and fuselage and small N numbers painted on the tail as well. The plane is now light yellow color with some blue trim. I have a new N Number that I must use now so the old numbers have to be removed or painted/doped over. I tried using MEK to remove the numbers and that only discolored the numbers but did not remove them. Dope thinner did not work at all on the material and didn't even soften the colored material. I sanded on them as well and that didn't help. The fabric is apparently some type of Dacron or synthetic material not cotton for sure so it doesn't appear to have dope on the fabric. I was hoping to use aerothane in a yellow color or some light color and hoping not to use a lot of paint (weight). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
