Mostly addressed in the title, but I have experimented with wood capped foam ribs and found them to be quick to build, strong, and at a reasonable weight when all factors are considered/compromised for fast, cheap, easy. But I never went farther with it because of (potentially irrational) concerns of the MEK fumes while covering it affecting the foam. I’m aware of ecobond (spelling?) and latex house paint finishing, but have never found a solid experienced answer on how to make a repair when going that route, so I’m asking is it an irrational concern?
