So there I was, slowly reading a paper on polypropylene creep, which was unusually heavy on technobabble and I get to this beauty:
"Tensile creep was measured by using an apparatus equipped with a mechanical stress amplifier 10:1."
Hang on, was this written by the turbo encabulator guy?
A mechanical stress amplifier is far more commonly known as a 'lever'. No wonder that paper was taking a while to digest.
