Good evening,
Thank you for accepting my forum membership request.
I live in Eastern Tennessee, USA, and purchased my 2011 Corben Baby Ace this week. We also own a restored 1946 Cessna 140 and a 1964 S-Model Bonanza. This is my first experimental aircraft ownership.
A few years ago I purchased a partially built Corben Baby Ace from an estate in N. Georgia. After assembling most of the parts needed to finish the project (A65, McCauley propeller and a few gauges) I sold the project to a mentor friend of mine who’d taught me to fly conventional gear aircraft in the early 1980s when I was in High School. Often, wished I had kept that Baby Ace project because I loved the design and simplicity of the Baby Ace.
I started looking for another Baby Ace (also looked at a Bowers Fly Baby and a Sonerai II) and found a really nice example near me. It was only a 30-min Cessna 140 flight to do the pre-buy. After the paperwork was finished, I took off for the first time and flew her back to her new hanger near Knoxville, Tennessee. She’s a great little plane that does exactly what I wanted….flying slow and enjoying the experience.
