A few about me:
Built an RV-4 which I flew, crashed, rebuilt, and still own.
Owned a T-6 once hence the nickname. That remains my favorite airplane to fly. Also once owned a Mooney M20J - that was my most favorite airplane to fly someplace.
Want to build/restore a MonoCoupe Clip Wing. After building the RV-4 I want to get back to building again. I am finishing up an RV-10 and while I love the kits I still can't help but believe it is cheating.
The Monocoupe would make me learn how to weld better, learn how to do woodwork better, and learn how to cover, period.
Flying it would make me learn to be more careful.
I'm still wondering how we maintain this wonderful activity if we can't find a way to get more young people to become pilots just for the fun that is in it. I think most of our national aviation organizations are more devoted to self-preservation than aviation promotion. They just don't see the grassroots as viable as a basis of their own prosperity. Understandable? Yes. Defensible? No.
