Hello all, I've been following the threads on auto vs aircraft engines with interest, and it's prompted a question from me. I know where to look for new engine prices, but I feel like there could be significant savings with a "slightly used" or at-home rebuilt engine. I don't have the experience to know what this should cost, or what would be needed to be done on any random engines that I see for sale on Barnstormers.com. For the sake of discussion, let's say this is a common homebuilt like an Rv7, and a common Lycoming like a 320 or 360. If you wanted to save money and were willing to do a little work and scrounging for a less than factory new, but still safely usable, what would you budget?
