I was just going over my copy of the Ragwing RW9/RW16 plans.
It calls for a lot of 2 inch U channels at the tube clusters, with 3/4 inch diameter tubes.
I can't figure out what is meant by "2 inch U channel". Two inches in what direction? If the U channel is 2 inches wide and a 3/4 inch tube fits inside, then the walls would have to be 5/8 inch thick! 1/8 inch should be adequate, since an alternative method (for part 103 construction) is to use 0.025 inch gussets.
Or am I reading it wrong, and it is actually calling for a 2 inch long section of channel? However....
Neither onlinemetals.com or metalsdepot.com lists any U channel that would fit a 3/4 inch tube. An alternative would be to get some rectangular tube of the appropriate size, which is available, and rip it lengthwise.
